Water quality testing

WATER QUALITY TESTING

If you don’t think your jellyfish are healthy – e.g. are shrinking, turning upside down or swimming towards the bottom, it is necessary to check the quality of your water. We recommend using the testing set for measuring parameters such as PH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, also you should measure salinity and temperature of the water in the aquarium.

Ideal values

PH

8,0 - 8,3

SLANOST

30 – 34ppt (1,022 - 1,026)

AMONIAK (NH 3)

0,0ppm

DUSITANY (NO 2-)

0,0ppm

DUSIČNANY (NO 3-)

0,0 – 20,0ppm

THE WATER TEMPERATURE

15 °C – 32 °C

If the measured values do not correspond with ideal values, you should adjust them as soon as possible. We recommend exchanging 25% of the water in your aquarium but only if the pollution is no that significant. In case of a significant pollution, we recommend exchanging up to 50% of your water. Important notice – never exchange all of the water at once! It is necessary to maintain the growth of important bacteria, living in the filtration. The salinity can be controlled by adding osmotic or distilled water and in opposite case, you can mix saltier water. The temperature can be easily adjusted using the heater in your filtration. Water flow is also very important for your jellyfish because it helps them maintain their shape and health. The flow should be strong enough to pick your jellyfish from the bottom of the aquarium.
