How often to feed the jellyfish?

They should be fed once a day. The right amount of frozen phytoplankton food for 3 jellyfish is the size of a pea. If there are any leftovers of the food floating in the water or laying on the bottom about 90 minutes after feeding, you should have the amount smaller next time. We recommend dividing the amount into a morning and an evening feeding. If you know in advance that you will not be able to feed your jellyfish (e.g. for two days), give the jellyfish a larger amount of food.

What do we feed the jellyfish with?

Live Artemia

We recommend feeding with live Artemia. This feeding material is the most suitable for jellyfish because the Artemia floats until consumed. That helps with maintaining ideal quality values of your water and secures a safe environment for the lives of your jellyfish. You can purchase a simple, small device for breeding live Artemia directly from our website or even create it at home by using a PET bottle and a small air valve. It is very important to separate already hatched Artemia from the eggs. The jellyfish is not able to digest an egg and it could cause health issues.

Frozen Artemia

This is probably the most suitable feeding material for the customers. The advantage is that you do not have to take care of hatching your own food. These are freshly frozen hatched Artemia. Feeding with them is very easy because you only break off a small piece of frozen Artemia and let it melt in a water you previously took out of your aquarium. After that, you pour the water with the Artemia back into the aquarium and the jellyfish will eat it. We ship the frozen food carefully wrapped up so that it is delivered in an ideal state.

Cubic Jellyfish Food

From our observations, we can tell that the jellyfish like the live Artemia or the frozen Artemia more. However, if you do not want to hatch your own Artemia and do not have a freezer near the place you keep your jellyfish, this food is an ideal option for you. You can comfortably store it at room temperature.

Baby Brine Shrimp

The Baby Brine Shrimp is a supplement to live Artemia. These are sterilised, newly born Nauplii in a water solution. In one 20-gram package, there is about 1.5 million of Nauplii. The disadvantage in comparison to live Artemia is that non-consumed food pollutes the water and it is harder to maintain the quality and cleanness of the water, while feeding with Baby Brine Shrimp.

Zoo Phytoplankton

Feeding with Zoo Phytoplankton is nutritious enough for the jellyfish (most nutritious out of all the food variants) but it pollutes the aquarium water. While feeding with Zoo Phytoplankton, it is necessary to observe the ideal dose that the jellyfish consume without any leftovers.
